Reducing health disparities that adversely affect African American men residing in Dane County, Wisconsin.
RLWA aims to achieve this mission through a cycle of outreach events that target chronic health conditions specific to diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, prostate cancer and memory loss. These core values support the Healthy People 2020 Plan, which highlights the importance of addressing social determinants of health by “creating social and physical environments that promote good health for all.”
The overarching goals of RLWA are to ensure that residents living in under-represented communities, who bear the heaviest burden of disease and poor health status, have the opportunity to live fuller, healthier lives. Through community dialog and hosting culturally specific activities, the organization reinforces healthy lifestyles and supports healthy opportunities for African American men living in Dane County.
